Registration by Exam

Texas applicants must process their records through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). When an applicant has met the qualifications to take the ARE, he or she should request that his or her NCARB file be transferred to the Texas Board.

TBAE will notify the candidate when his or her file has been received and provide instructions for submitting an application and paying the application fee. The applicant can choose to do this online by logging in to his or her personal account, or offline by mailing the application and payment to TBAE.

• Applicants who choose to apply to take the examination and pay the application fee online should click here to apply online and provide the requested information. The application fee can be paid with an electronic check or Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards.
• Applicants who choose to apply offline can contact us and request that TBAE mail the application to them.
