Employment Procedures

How to Apply

The Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) accepts applications only for posted vacancies. Submit one State of Texas Application for each position in which you are interested. Applications must be received by 5:00 pm on the closing date. TBAE will not consider you as an applicant if you submit a resume or letter of interest without a State of Texas Application.

Applications submitted via email or fax will be subject to a personal signature if called for an interview.

Interviews

All applications are screened for minimum qualifications. Only applications that meet all minimum qualifications will be considered by the hiring unit. If you are selected for an interview, the hiring division will contact you. If you are hired, the Human Resources Division will call to extend the offer and you will receive an official job offer letter in the mail.

Applicants who are interviewed but not selected will be notified when the position is filled. Only those applicants interviewed will be notified of final selection or non-selection.

Proof of Qualifications

For some postings, interviewees will be required to bring transcripts, proof of certification, or writing samples to the interview. For some postings, applicants must successfully complete the applicable job performance skills assessment tests administered by the agency.

Contacting Present Employer

If you are selected for a position with TBAE, we will contact your present employer for employment verification. If you do not want your present employer to be contacted, you must submit a statement in writing with your application.

Proof of U.S. Work Eligibility Requirements

If hired, all employees are required to provide a proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. as required by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. TBAE does not agree to sponsor its employees for work authorization.

Selective Service

If you are a male 18 to 25 years of age, an offer of employment is contingent upon you presenting proof when you report for your first day of employment that you are registered with the selective service system or that you are exempt from registration.

Online registration and proof of registration is available on the Selective Service Web site.

Veterans Preference

An individual who qualifies for a veteran's employment preference is entitled to a preference in employment with TBAE over other applicants for the same position that do not have a greater qualification. (Tx. Gov't Code §657.003.)

Outside Employment

If you are offered a position with TBAE you will need to inform us of your employment, if any, to ensure that the position offered to you poses no conflict of interest to your employment responsibilities with this agency.

"At-Will" Employment

All TBAE employees serve "at-will" and are not employed for any specific length of time.
